Why the Records Are Split
Preston County does not operate the regional jail that serves its cases. WVDCR runs Tygart Valley Regional Jail in Randolph County, while the Preston County Sheriff's Office may hold its own arrest reports or photographs and county courts hold the orders that authorize bond, dismissal, sentence completion, or probation. State prisoners use a separate WVDCR prison search. Parole and mandatory supervision belong to WVDCR Parole Services, but court probation belongs to the West Virginia Judiciary. Federal prisoners at the Hazelton complex appear in the Bureau of Prisons system. This site organizes the official searches, release-record request steps, court sources, and supervision contacts without treating one locator as universal.
